Have just birthed my second son through the MGP4 midwifery clinic at KEMH. I was lucky enough to have Paula assigned as my midwife throughout this program. I saw her for all appointments except the one where I met her partner Emma (planned) and she was there to deliver our baby. Throughout all appointments and especially the birth I felt so empowered, supported and comforted by Paula’s advice, experience and counsel.
Being able to develop a relationship with the midwife before the birth allowed me to be able to really mentally & physically prepare for all aspects of the birth, which became harder as the date drew nearer (previous baby had shoulder dystocia and to think I had been impacted by this birth trauma more than I realised last time).
I can’t get over how incredibly and amazingly different my second birth was to my first and I’m so grateful to Paula, King Edward Memorial Hospital and the MGP4 program for giving me this positive birth experience. Thank you.
