One of our Kalbarri locals is a much loved member of the community. He has no family other than his Kalbarri friends. He has terminal cancer and is able to be cared for in his final days in his beloved Kalbarri, only because the Health Centre is able to accommodate and care for him.
This allows our friend to die with dignity and in some way on his terms and not amongst strangers in Geraldton or Perth. The nurses and staff have gone above and beyond their duty to ensure our much loved friend is comfortable and at least let him know he is home.
I cannot communicate how appreciated this is. The lovely area that our friend gets to gaze out to and listen to the birds and watch the lizards play, is just lovely for him in his final days. What a lovely area.
I hope the Medical Centre can continue to operate in this way for many years to come. It really means a lot to simple country folk to be able to die amongst their friends.
Thank you.
"Much loved member of our community."
