My partner returned to Angliss Hospital 4 days after being discharged from giving birth with a fever and blistering on her stomach. Then for 4 days I believe the obstetric doctors did nothing except observe and provide antibiotics - which between numerous doctors miscommunicated what she was on oral or IV. Finally after a number of very concerned midwives went over the obstetric doctors heads to hospital coordinator - did something happen.
A surgical specialist visited and CT was arranged and surgery followed to remove an abscess. She was then transferred to another ward where our baby wasn't allowed to stay with an upset mother. Twenty-four hours after the surgery there was no update from the doctors on what the plan was or if her condition was improving.
It was only because of the kind and concerned help from some of the midwifery staff that I managed to hold it together.
"Infection after Caesarian and follow up treatment."
