My husband drove me to Albany Health Campus in the middle of the night as I was having difficulty breathing.

We were seen by doctors in ED and a chest x-ray was organized. After the x-ray, I was advised that I  would be an inpatient and that I had pneumonia. Fortunately, a bed was found and I received regular doses of intravenous antibiotics and plenty of fluids.

At all times I was given clear explanations of what was being administered and why. All staff on all shifts showed courtesy, professionalism, care, and competence. I felt in safe hands at all times which allowed me to relax more and make steady improvement. I was able to return home after almost 5 days, knowing that I was well on the road to recovery.

I commend the staff at AHC and consider their skills exemplary.We are fortunate indeed to have so many exemplary professionals. Our thanks to you all.

Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your experience on the Albany Health Campus. Whilst we are always grateful for any feedback we receive from our community it is particularly pleasing to hear of your positive experience. I will ensure that the Emergency Department team and our ward staff are made aware of your feedback.

You mention how you felt well informed at all times. Communication in healthcare is very important and sometimes in complex situations communication may become less clear. When we communicate clearly with our patients we work in partnership with them to achieve a timely and agreed outcome.

I hope that you are now fully recovered from your bout of pneumonia but please do not underestimate how debilitating pneumonia can be.
