"Outstanding care at Maroondah Hospital"

I attended Maroondah Hospital recently after being bitten by a dog. This was my first visit to a public hospital (lucky I guess, given I’m 59 years old). There are negative comments about the public health system abound, so I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience. From the moment I walked up to reception until I left the hospital later that evening, my experience was fantastic! Every single staff member who attended to me (and there were quite a few) was caring, informative and efficient. Reception, emergency nurses & doctor, radiology, ward nurses & doctor, plastic surgeon, and theatre staff were all outstanding. I wish I knew all the staff names so I could thank them personally and I hope that somehow the staff who attended to me, see my comments. I am sure they all work hard and probably often don’t receive the recognition they deserve. It is so important that people are recognised for their efforts because heading into work every day, no matter how much we enjoy it, is so much better when we know it’s not just about the pay cheque... that we are making a difference.

I was so pleased to read how the staff made your experience so positive and can see this has influenced views of the level of care and service our staff work so hard to provide. It will give me great pleasure to provide your feedback not only to the managers of the services who provided care and service, but also to all staff!
