Three years ago I was placed on a waiting list to have Abdominoplasty surgery. I was thrilled as I had a bowl resection done several years ago which left my stomach in a mess.
I was extremely excited when my phone rang a month ago to inform me my surgery would take place at Bunbury Regional Hospital mid-year.
I put in place my work schedule for the next few months having to cancel some of my clients and move others to a later or earlier date.
Recently I received a call from the hospital to say my surgery would not be going ahead and was permanently cancelled due to a very senior doctor at the hospital (not my surgeon) deciding not to honour my surgery and I believe the surgery of several others.
After a three year wait do you know how excited I was to be told I was having this life changing surgery and then this doctor decides to can it. I liken it to giving a 3 year old their favourite toy and then taking it away.
In my opinion I don't know how this particular doctor sleeps at night ruining peoples dreams of a life changing event.
