"Sale patient"

About: Sale Hospital

(as the patient),

I was taken to Sale Hospital by ambulance and was then admitted for a few days. The treatment was very good. One thing I would like to comment about is that the bed was very high. I almost had to jump to get into it. I asked if it could be lowered, but they told me it couldn't be.

I have been a patient in Sale a lot of times. The food was much better on this occasion. I would like to compliment them on this.

One of the nurses drove me to an optometrist in Sale to have photos taken of the back of my eye, because the hospital doesn't provide this service. I was very grateful for that.

I was surprised though that I was sent home in a taxi after being discharged. I went in in an ambulance, I live on my own and don't have any family. I was surprised there isn't a hospital car to take people home.

Dear Sale patient

I was very sorry to hear that you had difficulty getting onto your hospital bed at CGH. I assume that this occurred in the Emergency Department (ED) as all our ward beds can be lowered.

We are currently undertaking a process to replace all our ED trolleys and to date, have only two remaining which will be replaced as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for the positive feedback about your stay. It is both motivating and reassuring to know that your experience was, overall, a positive one.

We are focusing our efforts on providing care that puts our patients at the centre so that they receive the care and assistance they need at all times. I will make ensure that your feedback is forwarded to the staff who were involved in your care, as they will appreciate your feedback.

Whilst we have, and use, hospital cars for transporting patients, it is often more convenient for the patient and the hospital to use taxis to transport patients who do not have someone to take them home.

It is very valuable to receive feedback from patients who have visited our hospital, as it provides us with an opportunity to improve our services.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with your story.

Kindest Regards

Denise
