My story begins when I was diagnosed with Sarcoma. I attended the private rooms of Professor Richard, who gave me the diagnosis. I was immediately referred for surgery to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for removal of the tumour. Within 3 weeks my surgery was completed, but unfortunately with sarcomas they spread quickly and my margins were not clear.
I had radiotherapy at the Cancer Centre and a second operation.
Throughout this treatment, I was cared for by the most wonderful staff, from the Professor through the nursing staff to the auxiliary staff at Sir Charles Gardener Hospital. I felt important and cared for. I spent a month in the hospital.
The staff at this hospital are truly the most dedicated people I have ever experienced.
I can’t thank them enough for supporting me through a terrible time.
