"Nurses not having the right training when it comes to treating a patient with anxiety and depression"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My sister is pregnant with her first child, she suffers from anxiety. My sister woke up and started sweating shaking and couldn't eat a thing. Naturally we all became very worried. She started vomiting and she wouldn't stop, so we took her to the hospital. Naturally my sister was feeling horrible. She was shaking, crying, having an anxiety attack, because she was scared and she was worried for her baby. Because she can't physically make herself calm down, I felt the nurses that took care of her treated her like she was on drugs. In my opinion they acted like she was doing this to herself, like she wanted to feel this way. It was horrible listening to the way my sister was treated. I suffer from anxiety myself and I was terrified for when I have a baby or when I need help, if my next attack is something I can't control. My sister simply needed a professional who could understand how she felt, how scared she was. But she was greeted, in my opinion, with the rudest unprofessional people ever. Anxiety is real and it sucks. I'm sick of hearing stories like this, they couldn't see her pain, so I believe they came to their own conclusion that there wasn't any.

Dear equuleusps84

Many thanks for taking the time to provide feedback on behalf of your sister in relation to your recent visit to Busselton Hospital. I am disappointed to hear that you had such a bad experience and felt the nurses were unprofessional and rude to your sister. I would really like to speak with you as we need to investigate your concerns and address these with the individual staff to ensure we are providing a service that is supportive and caring at all times. I would appreciate if you can call me on 9753 6372. Once again I’m very sorry you and you sister had this experience at Busselton Hospital,

Yours sincerely

Daniel Anderson
