I attended the ED with my partner one day on a weekend. Whilst sitting in the waiting room, I saw a man start yelling and harassing a mother and her young child from across the waiting room, for no apparent reason, who were using the bathroom. I overheard the staff at the front desk call security to remove the man. Not long after that a security officer came in, spoke to the staff and then walked back to his office. Again, I saw the man slamming the toilet door and making loud noises inside the toilet, and again I saw the staff contact security. I'm concerned about the inactivity of the security staff, my safety and the safety of others in the waiting room. Clearly there was a concern that this man was being disruptive and even after repeated calls from the staff at the front desk, nothing really happened. He eventually walked out himself, so I assume he was not a patient waiting to see a doctor.
