"My hip replacement story"

About: Armadale Hospital / Orthopaedic/Trauma Outpatient Clinic

(as the patient),

I had a problem in September 2017.

Appeared to be a left knee problem, but an x-ray showed a probable left hip replacement. This problem was referred to Armadale Health  who advised that referral was accepted and they would advise. I have not heard from them to this day, but I believe that I was on the 12 month list.

This problem has definitely worsened. I can hardly walk, have to use a walker which has cut down my ability to attend both of the bands I play with, plus the ability to do general maintenance around the house.

Plus I still do not know if I need a hip replacement or not.

Dear agedmac,

Thank you so much for getting in touch with us.

I am very sorry to read that you have not heard from us regarding your orthopaedic referral and I’m concerned the wait for treatment is now impacting on your everyday life and wellbeing.

I would really appreciate the opportunity to follow this up for you as soon as possible and ask that you contact our Consumer Liaison Office on 9391 1153 or email AKG_ConsumerLiaison@health.wa.gov.au at your earliest convenience. This will allow us to provide you with the clinical advice you are seeking.

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Update posted by agedmac (the patient)

Dear Di

I have been to the clinic and there comment is as follows

I am still on their books, but as a long range (public health) person and will probably hear from them from October this year and as my condition has worsened I should see my GP and organize for new x-rays and re-referral

As my GP is away at present I cannot see him until mid September at which time I will do as advised

Thank you for your comments

Regards

agedmac
