Finding Hakea for our grandparents from Albany was the luckiest find ever. My lovely grandfather had dementia and my grandmother was his fulltime carer before they moved into Hakea. She was in her 80s and the challenge of caring for her husband of 55 years was getting harder, despite her love and very best efforts. Living in Hakea meant they were together and that my grandmother had assistance and a chance for a break when carers could take over for an hour or as long as she needed. All they had to do was open their front door and the community room and carer was right there with a cuppa and activities for pop. As a family we grew to love the carers and the wonderful setting. Thank God for Hakea. Our grandparents were happy and loved living there and we loved visiting them.
