"Mammogram staff"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital

(as the patient),

I had a mammogram and ultrasound appointment.  This was my yearly check-up. I have had breast cancer and have had a lumpectomy, mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy and was quite nervous about the tests.  The staff member that collected me from reception gave me 'the drill' about where to lock my belongings, where to change and wait till I was called from another waiting room.  This was done in a very rushed manner and was not a good start to my overall experience.  My next stop was the mammogram where I was greeted by a staff member who I felt was not mature or empathic enough to deal with the situation.  I was very upset and disappointed by my treatment and I would like a phone call to discuss this further with someone.

Thank you.

Dear Kyuss100,

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your recent experience at Fiona Stanley Hospital during your yearly mammogram and ultrasound. I understand why this would have been a nervous time for you, your yearly check-up is a difficult time - empathy and consideration from staff are so important.

I am so sorry to hear that you felt rushed during your appointment and apologise that you felt staff didn't show you empathy and understanding. Our Breast Service pride themselves on the care they give to women in your situation and we have passed on your feedback so that the team understand how you felt.

If you would like to contact Fiona Stanley Hospital Patient and Family Liaison in 6152 4013 or FSHFeedback@health.wa.gov.au and provide them with your details, I will ensure that a senior member of the Breast Service contacts you by phone as soon as possible

Kind regards

Janet Zagari
