"Fantastic triage nurse"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Emergency Department St John Ambulance WA

(as a friend),

I want to thank Tom - a wonderful triage nurse at Royal Perth Hospital - who was fantastic in  recently  helping me locate my friend who I had called an ambulance for earlier in the day. As I  am not next of kin or have any  guardianship of my friend,   I was not entitled to know where or if  she had been admitted to any emergency  department in Perth.   This situation was exacerbated as she has a mental health  condition  (and currently a physical disability) and was not able to use her phone.   Tom went out of his way to assist me with empathy, kindness and compassion. Tom - you are a  credit to your profession. Thank you!

Dear Rosqh86

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of RPH and for thanking Tom. Our triage nurses, play a critical role in the initial greeting and assessment of our patients. Their role is often busy and challenging so it is so lovely for them to be recognised in this way and pleasing to hear that Tom was able to provide you with the reassurance and support you needed. We are very fortunate to have the staff that we do in our busy Emergency Department and I will ensure that your thanks are passed to Tom.
