"My treatment care at Maroondah Hospital."

About: Maroondah Hospital

(as the patient),

I am a retired Det. Sgt of Police and I am in awe of the young people working in the nursing and allied professions especially at Maroondah. I have had several surgeries at Maroondah over the past 10 years from hip replacements to gall bladder removal. I attended there recently for a scheduled procedure which was to cause me to be there overnight.

From the time I spoke to Karen at the admission desk at day procedure my treatment and care was again exemplary. I was attended to by lovely kind nurses Jacinta and Marta.  Whilst waiting to go to theatre a lovely young student nurse Daniella and her apparent mentor Vivien looked after me and they were so supportive. If our young nurses have ladies like Vivien helping them then we will all be the better for it.

In the room off theatre a young male nursed named Jordan was great, he liked a joke and I could tell he was a great young fellow. The nurse in theatre who I had most contact with was Priscilla, what a delightful young lady she is, I was also attended to by others but before I could memorise any names I was out to it. The nurses and doctors in theatre were all young people and I was so impressed by them. From there I was taken to 3 East and for that evening two beautiful caring young ladies looked after me. Catherine (Cat) and Kate were so professional, they were always on the move and busy during the shift as all nursing staff were in 3 East, but still found the time to share stories. On the night shift Kelly was my nurse, she did not stop walking up and down that corridor attending to patients all night. I had very little sleep and was totally in awe of her and the other nurses on the shift. As it turned out she lives where my daughter lives and also has a love of dogs as my family also does. The next morning Kate from the PM shift the day before was back and one could not help being cheered up by her smiling face. Again I pay a great complement to all the staff I had dealings with this time at  Maroondah. We are so lucky to have such a great public facility, staffed by wonderful caring people in our area.

Dear sagittarp55,

Thank you so much for your feedback about your experiences at Maroondah Hospital and particularly your feedback about your recent experience. We are so proud of our dedicated and hard-working staff and it is always such a pleasure to hear that directly from patients. I will make sure that your feedback reaches the teams in Day Procedure, theatre and 3 East and will make sure the staff that you have named get the feedback directly.

I trust you have made a full recovery from your surgery,

Regards
