"Reassuring and prompt care at Wonthaggi Hospital Emergency Department"

(as the patient),

One Sunday morning recently I developed severe chest and back pain.  My husband rang for an ambulance, which arrived quickly, assessed me, then took me to Wonthaggi Hospital Emergency Department.  

The staff attended to me straight away, were very kind and reassured me. Lots of tests were done, and they were sure that I had not had a heart attack, the nurses were as happy as I was. Due to my medical history, I was admitted to HDU, short stay unit.  

Again the nurses were kind, explained everything they did, looked after me wonderfully. They checked for more things to try and find out what caused the pain.

I have had several PEs (pulmonary embolism) in my lungs and several DVTs (deep-vein thrombosis) in the past.

The doctor was excellent, he explained everything, and was very reassuring.

I want to say thank you to all the staff that attended to me on that day.

The hospital and the emergency department should be very proud of their department and all their staff. Thank you once again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your feedback. It is always nice to hear this feedback and I can assure you that people who work in healthcare genuinely come to work each day with the intent to provide excellent care - sometimes we don't get it quite right but in the main we do and we are very proud of the staff in our Emergency Department and Short Stay/Higher Dependency areas for the great work they do in their tricky environment. I am pleased for you that it wasn't a cardiac issue and I hope you are now doing ok.
