"Mother entering into aged care"

I have been full time carer for my 92 year old mother for some years and a few months ago, we decided I could no longer provide the care she needed, with her deteriorating health, in general. We decided I would make inquiries about a nursing home. Fortunately, Palm Lakes Nursing Facility was being built just minutes away from our home. I began the process of admission forms and with that, the endless other forms one has to complete during this very stressful time. On many occasions I needed to ask questions and every single time I made a phone call to the woman I had been dealing with, my stress levels were alleviated. I felt secure and the help I received was forthcoming and at no stage did I feel as though I was being a bother or a nuisance, because I did make a lot of phone calls.  Finally last week, we were given a tour of Mum's new home.  Again, the woman who was our guide, was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and so accommodating that now, both Mum and I can't wait for her admission date.  

The facility itself is, in my opinion, 5 star luxury accommodation.  The interior design is beautiful, state of the art beds, bathrooms, media room, coffee shop, numerous lounges with peaceful views and water features and so many other attractive furnishings and paintings.

The stories surrounding nursing care facilities has been less than average lately and I wanted to write this small account of my experience, so far.  I will write another small story once Mum has settled in and we know the routines and staff but at this state, I have no doubt that Mum is going to be very happy in her new home at Palm Lakes Nursing Home.
