I have finally healed enough to write about how well I was treated at Yarra Ranges Health. I promised I'd praise the medical staff, and I'm keeping my promise.
I had carpal tunnel surgery recently. The level of care I got, was top-notch. I didn't have to wait long, and the compassion every member of staff gave me, helped get my nerves under control. Everyone was very thorough with the questions, and I feel that due diligence was taken. They explained everything, so I knew what would happen.
When it came time for my surgery, they made adjustments for my anxiety and chronic back pain. This includes making the operating table comfortable for me. Music was playing in the operating theatre, and this helped calm me. The cannula was put in very gently, and they even asked if needles made me worry. Once they administered the anaesthetic, I was out.
I woke up just as they were finishing up (they explained this would happen), and I felt nothing, as local anaesthetic had been used. When I came to, I did feel a little nauseous, but an antiemetic had me feeling much better in around 15 minutes, and while recovering, I was eating cheese and biscuits.
I had very little pain the first night, as my hand was numb from the local anaesthetic. But I did have around 6/10 pain the day after. I still get pain in my wrist, if I try to say open a jar. But I have strong medication at home, which helps.
Since the operation, I'd say I'm doing very well. No infection, but there is some bruising as expected. I also have very little, to no tingling in my left hand. I'd definitely say the operation was a success. I definitely recommend this hospital for surgery, and I feel so privileged to have such a great team of medical staff, care for me.
Thank you so much!
