I have attended this institution on more than three occasions for suicide attempts. I believe your approach is clumsy and ill-considered. After being required to retell my story multiple times to many individuals, a re-traumatising experience each time, I had to escape what seemed to me, in my fragile state, to be serious bullying and harassment. My priority became to leave and throw myself under a bus. It seemed my desperation for help was regarded as ‘attention seeking' and not taken seriously. It seems for Maroondah, mental health is a low priority and your priority is to make people leave. My experience at PAPU (Psychiatric Assessment and Planning Unit) by the psychiatrist, I believe was that she failed and was not able to recognise my condition, (I am a disabled pensioner with bipolar). I felt she also bullied me to make me leave. A truly appalling individual who, in my opinion, is not fit to work in her profession. I will be writing a formal complaint to the Minister of Victorian Mental Health - The Hon Martin Foley MP. This will include dates, times and what was said. Funding for this health institution must be reconsidered and redirected to where it serves some useful purpose. I don’t expect a response as I feel that mental health is not on your radar as an issue worth your consideration. I will not attend this hospital as I believe to do so is not a safe option.
