Recently I had a horrible experience with a relative. Long term mental health patient. Grieving a physical condition also. Long term ‘cutter’.
My relative was taken to ED having swallowed large amount of pills with alcohol and cut legs. About 4 hours later my relative was discharged. I argued and begged for them to admit her. No.
What’s the point if suicide prevention/awareness programs? Tell someone you're not ok programs, etc., when hospitals seem to throw them out. My relative was begging for help, but .. no.. discharged. In my opinion, this is an outrageous lack of compassion, blunt communication. I should have invoked Ryan's Law. I will next time and contact the media. I am disgusted by the uncaring staff that night.
"Mental health care."
