Recently my wife and I took a drive from Augusta to Hamelin Bay with our adult intellectually disabled son. He had a fall and hurt his right knee, we were quite concerned as he had a hip replacement on his left hip in November 2017 as the result of a fall at Activ Industries.
We took him to the Emergency Dept at Augusta about 12.45pm. From the moment we walked in the staff were very caring and very professional. The nurse took him into the small Emergency Ward and put him on a bed, then gave him panadol. As this is a small country hospital there are not doctors there all the time, the doctors come from the GP Clinic as required. We were told the doctor would be coming at 1.30pm. It was in the middle of the lunch hour and they asked us if we had eaten, when we said no they brought us a cup of tea and something to eat, because of the long wait. The doctor was extremely professional and caring, fortunately, he could find no serious problems, just soreness and bruising, but he gave us a form for an x-ray in case we needed it later.
The whole experience turned what was for us a worrying time into a pleasant experience
