I emailed the manager, to ask about fees, vacancies etc. The manager referred me to the necessary staff member. 

I met with this staff member and they supplied me with an application form and general information. I received an email from a staff member about pricing etc. I have not filled in an application form as I wanted to complete my tax return before doing so, as much of the required information is also required when submitting a tax return. I was disappointed to learn that St Vincent's Care Services at Bronte do not keep any rooms for respite applications. Also it is very costly especially as there are additional costs to the standard daily fee. As a self-funded retiree I'd like to feel that not only are we able to fund my husband's care, but also my own.

Thank you for taking the time to post a story in regards to our services.

The information you have been given by our team is correct, St Vincent’s Care Services Bronte unfortunately does not have reserved rooms for respite. This is mainly due to the demand for permanent placement at the facility for residents with high care needs, and we also have a wait list for permanent places.. Under the Aged Care Act providers are not required to reserve rooms or beds for respite services, however, where we can, we do offer respite alternatives at one of our other St Vincent’s Care Services facilities in Sydney; at Edgecliff, Auburn, Haberfield and Yennora. We also offer in-home care and support through our Community Living service.

You are also correct that we charge an additional services fee of $35 per day at St Vincent’s Care Services Bronte, across the entire site, which is competitive in the market for residential aged care in the local area.
