Late last year I was taken by ambulance to hospital. Test results showed I had a heart attack and the outcome was I had 2 stents inserted. After a few weeks home I was asked to attend a Heart Rehabilitation program to help me gain back my strength, understand what my heart has been through, what I can do to help it back to health and keep it healthy. As usual I was a difficult patient and proceeded to do everything I could not to participate fully with the program. Never once did the staff at Eastern Health, Lilydale give up on me. On the contrary, they spent much effort in coaching and coaxing me in the direction I needed to go if I was to get through this period of life. These ladies are most patient and caring as well as skillful in the performance of their work. Most people would probably say this is what they get paid for, but watching them each week working with us elderly folk makes me understand they are there for us. They really care. They put up with a lot of smart comments and arguments and yet never lost that ability to laugh and enjoy each session. So from me, ladies, and I suspect from many others in the group, I would like to say a big thank you for making what I thought was going to be a tedious five weeks a time of enjoyment. I hope I will continue on the road you have paved for me so this is not a session I will have to do again.
