"Lack of treatment"

About: Bunbury Hospital

(as the patient),

Recently I was on a diet for a colonoscopy. The following day no food only pico prep. Early the next morning I went to Collie Hospital to have colonoscopy. At 10am I was told I had a blockage, and to go to Bunbury Regional Hospital for a CT colonoscopy at 11am. On arrival I was gowned and told to wait. At 1:40pm I was taken into x-ray room and for over an hour they tried to pump gas up my anus unsuccessfully. Finally they got another technician in to help. After trying again, they realised the gas cylinder was empty. I believe they didn't know how to get another. So at 3:00pm I was told to do back home, and they would call me back another day. I will have to fast and pico prep all over again. Also I had a bung in my hand from the morning. I asked if they could take it out, they said no go back to Collie Hospital to get it removed. I am still worried about the blockage in my body. And am very upset about my lack of treatment. I arrived back home at 4:15pm very upset and frustrated.

Dear perplexed,

I am just following up and understand as a result of your concerns you have received a phone call and an apology from the manager of our contracted medical imaging provider at Bunbury Hospital, Global Diagnostics. The manager has advised me you have been rescheduled for a repeat procedure later this month.

The manager at Global Diagnostics has also ensured a second bottle of C02 gas is always available so this does not happen again for you or any other patients. Please also accept my apology for the discomfort and inconvenience you experienced. If you have any other concerns or questions please do not hesitate to give me a call on my mobile 0438 062 341.

Your sincerely,

Jeremy Higgins
