"Surgery at Collie Hospital"

About: Collie Hospital

(as the patient),

Recently I was having a carpal tunnel surgery at Collie Hospital, my choice was to have it performed by the cuff method (to stay awake) as I have had a bad experience in the past with going under a general .

I was greeted by a lovely nurse who took me through and went through all my paper work,  and while she was doing this Dr Lee arrived and started talking to me and out of no where I broke down with built up emotions about everything and grieving my dear sibling that I lost in recent months as well.

The doctors, nurses and all theatre staff were so understanding and caring.

They got me ready for theatre & did a dummy run to see if I could handle the pain of the cuff (it wasn't the pain it was the numbness) & to stay awake, but no I couldn't.

So with quiet words and peaceful surroundings  they put me under, I don't remember a thing, I woke to another nurse offering me a cuppa and a sandwich

I would love to thank them all for their kindness and compassion.

I have to have my other hand done when this one has healed and I will be a lot more relaxed going in this time.

Thank you.

Dear Dragonfly,

Thank you very much for providing such positive feedback on the care that you have received at Collie Hospital.

It is really excellent to get feedback that involves the whole team and that the team responded to your needs and concerns before and during surgery to allay your fears.

Working in a small community hospital such as Collie Hospital it allows the team to support and respond to patients fears and needs.

The team there are a wonderful group of professionals and I will ensure that every one is aware of how much their care assisted in making your experience such a positive one.

And it is also good to know that you will be more prepared and relaxed when you return to have your second surgery.

Again Thank You for taking the time to provide feedback.

Lucy Murphy

A/District Manager
