"Patient left unseen after an hour wait"

Patient had chemo the day before and said when they arrived for a Fiona Stanley Hospital Neurology Telehealth appointment that they felt awful and they did indeed look completely pale, tired green and unwell. They waited for an hour. Fiona Stanley Hospital could not give any indication on when the patient would be seen, no estimated time for a dial in, saying there was nothing they could do about the clinic. Patient left unseen after waiting an hour and looking worse than they did when they walked in. We could only apologise. The patient and companion looked so disappointed.

Thank you for expressing your concern about this patient who it seems was not well enough to wait for their appointment. On preliminary investigation we were not able to identify this patient and are unsure if they have re-scheduled their review.

If you are able to contact our customer liaison service (on 6152 4013 or email fsh.feedback@health.wa.gov.au) with details of the clinic date and location we may be able to further assist this patient if their medical needs have not been resolved.

I can assure you that we always endeavour to see outpatients who are acutely unwell on the day of their appointment as quickly as possible. Outpatients who are not well enough to attend are able to reschedule if necessary.
