"I have my doubts about the original blood-letter's competency."

About: PathWest Joondalup Collection Centre

(as the patient),

I presented myself at opening time for blood tests

Went to Room upon calling up my ticket number and presented form to a  woman who read it and ID’d me via a series of questions.

She had difficulty locating a vein on both arms and hands, once a vein was found she pulled out three different coloured tubes and a butterfly lance and placed them in a tray. She excused me and wanted to access the computer for whatever reason unknown to me.

Then she was in the process of extraction on my left inside elbow and then said, the vein collapsed, then she said, can only try two times.  A bit of pondering between us was going on then during this time another woman came into the room for an unrelated matter to us and I suggested to her to ask this woman to try me. A little while later she accepted to do it.
This other lady went over the request form and then looked at the tray and removed two tubes and replaced them with two different ones from storage drawers  (a conversation was going on at the same time between these two women of which I don’t know what it was about). The second lady checked out my arms and hands and immediately proceeded with extraction without hassles; all three tubes were filled - All finished.
I left the room shocked as to see that the original test had failed and that incorrect coloured sample tubes were used; this was rectified when somebody else took over and there were no hassles....I felt strange whether or not it was fate that saved me...the intervention!
I have my doubts about the original blood-letter's competency.
It upsets me to have to go through processes that are not properly done especially in the medical field. I’ve had a few misfortunes as a result of medical incompetencies in the past.

Update posted by Toppa (the patient)

It’s taking too long to fix this.

It is the very same blood-letter that performed so dismally on me last year (refer to my previous report).

I feel this person hasn’t learnt much since being counselled by your superiors, they are still not being careful and precise in their decisions.

I did not specifically target this person in the first place but my number came up in turn to be served.

Whatever happened in that room clearly demonstrates that this person does not have the competence to perform the duties as expected from them.

Now is the time for your company to make proper decisions as I don’t want a repeat of poor performance.

Dear Toppa,

I am sorry to hear that you have not had a positive experience at our Joondalup Collection Centre recently. We would very much like to follow up on your concerns further. Can I please request that you contact our Manager of Specimen Collection Services, Mrs Elaine Toogood on 6457 4514 and provide some further details.

Kind regards,
