"Prompt and appropriate treatment"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Cardiology, CCU and Ward 4D Margaret River Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Presented with chest pain to Margaret River Hospital (MRDH) one morning recently with a past history of  Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) requiring stenting. Later that day I was in Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) in a stable condition. Angioplasty the following day and home 2 days later.

The care at Margaret River Hospital was exemplary. The care at FSH would have been exemplary had I not been, in my opinion, coerced into changing my admission status from public to private.

I am though, extremely grateful to HDWA. Thank you so much.

Dear Angioplasty,

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the care you received whilst in Margaret River and Fiona Stanley Hospitals.

At Fiona Stanley Hospital we do routinely ask if patients would like to use their private health insurance whilst in a public hospital, however I do not expect that this be offered in a way whereby you feel pressured or coerced. I apologise that this was how you were made to feel. The team have taken your feedback on board.

If you would like to contact us regarding your specific circumstances to allow us to explore further, you can contact us on 6152 4013.

I was pleased to hear that otherwise the care you received at FSH was exemplary. I have passed your comments on to the Coronary Care team who were glad to receive your feedback.

Kind regards

Neil Doverty
