"A caring community hospital"

About: Kununoppin Health Service / Emergency Department

(as a carer),

My 94 year old father wanted to remain in the community where he had lived from the age of 2 years. Although an aged care facility is available in the local hospital the large demand for this fantastic service meant this was not an option for my father. My brother and I decided to support Dad to live independently in his community for as long as possible.

During this time the staff at the hospital provided ongoing support for both my Dad and myself. There was never a question that went unanswered nor advice not offered no matter what hour of the day. All treatment offered was done with Dad's wishes in mind. Through the 6 months that I lived with Dad, I felt part of a community, supported and acknowledged and this was despite me not living there for nearly 40 years. Dad's passing was achieved with dignity and independence.

I can't express the gratitude I feel for the staff of the Kununoppin Hospital and Medical Practice for their support, kindness and commitment to my Father. Thank you does not seem enough.

Dear Proud of my Dad

Firstly, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father. Losing a loved one is never easy and I am pleased that you were able to gain strength and felt supported by the staff at Kununoppin Health Service, during an incredibly difficult time.

WA Country Health Service (WACHS) aims to provide the highest quality care with compassion and integrity, not only for patients residing in our facilities, but for those living in the community as well. I am proud of the level of commitment and dedication that staff have in their roles and they are always delighted to receive recognition of this from patients and their families. I will take great pleasure in passing on your kind words to the staff at Kununoppin Health Service, as well as my own appreciation for the excellent service they have provided to you and your family.

I thank you for taking the time to provide your comments and wish you well in the future.

Kind regards

Sean Conlan

Regional Director, WACHS Wheatbelt
