I'd like to give some positive feedback to the maternity ward at Osborne Park Hospital (OPH) and particularly to the midwife team on behalf of my wife and myself. My wife gave birth over a very busy period and we were very fortunate to have Ahlem present to deliver our baby. We hadn't planned to come to hospital so late into labour, but Ahlem recognised this immediately on our arrival and took us straight to a birthing suite.
Our birth plan was acknowledged at every stage and any deviations were communicated to us, something which did not happen for my wife's previous labour at another hospital. Our baby needed some help with breathing immediately after delivery, but we were given numerous opportunities to debrief this with ward midwife afterwards and felt at ease with their management and outcomes. We'd also like to give positive feedback to the other members of the midwife team that we met through my wife's pregnancy- Kay, Jo and Kim.
A suggestion we'd like to make would be for the midwife team to operate more like the midwife teams at another service we've been to - i.e. you contact the team during the antenatal period for concerns/issues or advice.
Our aftercare was fantastic too, we'd had support from Elaine (lactation consultant) and physio for laser therapy from Naomi and Rebecca.
"Amazing maternity care"
