"Patient care at the Hospital"

My partner presented at the hospital recently with severe stomach pain. We went to the Emergency Department in the morning and were admitted to the clinical decision unit with the initial diagnosis of an infectious gastro quasi issue.

Did not see the ward doctor until later that afternoon. My partner was placed in an isolation room with signage displayed that required gowns and mask to be worn and staff entered and left the room on many occasions without wearing the required protective clothing. One of the attending doctors had to be told by other medical staff and my partner to wear the protective garments. A name tag was not placed on my partner's wrist until the afternoon and was only given after my partner questioned the nurse about it, which is a serious breach of QLD Health Policy.

Once my partner and I raised these concerns they were quickly discharged despite all the test results not being back from the lab and no definite diagnosis based on lab results provided.

I was asked to bring the medication usually taken by my partner to the hospital. I presented them to the ward nurse who stated that they did not think they presented any interaction concerns with the treatment but then admitted that they did not know what two of the medications were. This is another serious concern as drug interactions can kill people. The drugs were not logged on the chart by the doctor and because of this the stall were unable to allow my partner to take their diabetic medications.

The entire process to tagging / identifying patients, infection control protocols and logical clinical diagnosis are seriously lacking at this facility.

This facility needs to be audited.
