"A very unacceptable health service"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

Due to health issues, my parent was transferred via ambulance late evening, and at time of writing it is now early morning - 5 hours later. We still haven't seen the doctor yet. A 5 hour waiting period for a mature age patient, in emergency, waiting on a hard, single bed - what kind of health service is that?

Dear Legend,

Thank you for sharing your parent’s experience with us. I am sorry that your parent has waited so long and agree that waiting for 5 hours is not acceptable. The Emergency Department did have a number of high acuity patients who presented last night which impacted on the wait time, however the department could have improved your parent's experience by providing a hospital bed, rather than an emergency trolley.

I understand that you have been in contact with us and we will investigate the situation in detail.

Kind regards

Neil Doverty
