"Urology and short stay staff"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital

(as the patient),

I do not know how to thank the surgeon Michael who removed my cancer from my bladder, I couldn't thank him enough. He explained all the risks that come with the surgery, telling me that if something goes wrong he will have to open me up to repair any damage, I laughed and said: "well be careful then". He was!

The nursing staff were incredible - they understood that I had never had surgery in all my years on this earth. Their professionalism was astounding, explaining everything they were doing, especially with the chemo treatment just after the surgery.

I just want to say thank you. You kept telling me it's your job, but your job is so demanding, so unpredictable, draining on your mental health and all-round difficult.

You saved my life and for that my spouse and I are profoundly grateful.

Dear octanskm85,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a lovely note. It’s a pleasure to receive positive feedback from patients.

The Department were very pleased to receive your feedback, they strive to always to do their best, not only in delivering gold standard clinical care but delivering it with empathy and sensitivity. This is not always easy with time and manpower constraints and it’s very rewarding to us all when efforts are appreciated by patients. It helps drive us to do even better.

Thank you!

Neil Doverty
