"Late discharge"

About: Albany Health Campus

(as the patient),

I had my appendix out. Stayed in hospital overnight. The next day I was told I would just have to wait to see the surgeon before I could be discharged. Not knowing an approximate time of when that would be has made it hard to plan for someone to pick me up. It was now closer to midday and I still have no idea when the surgeon is coming and when I can go home.

It feels like I'm taking up valuable bed space and the nurses' time to keep looking after me.

Dear runningtb75,

Thank you for sharing your experience at Albany Health Campus on Patient Opinion. I am sorry that our staff have not kept in communication with you about your discharge. We have had a number of staff off sick which has caused delays in our admission and discharge processes. I can only apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you.

If you would like to contact me directly to discuss this further my number is 9892 2620 or email Juan.Clark@health.wa.gov.au

Kind regards

Juan Clark
