My relative attends Annabel House Dementia Day Care Centre run by the Community Health care team from the Prince of Wales Hospital. During the past several months, a new manager, Deborah, was appointed Acting Head Manager of the Day Care Centre.
I want to compliment and provide positive and thankful feedback on Deborah's proactive and patient-focused management of Annabel House. I believe Deborah's background in nursing and her extensive experience in the area of community nursing health care and aged care has equipped her to provide strong leadership and patient-centred care to the staff, carers and most importantly the clients attending the day centre.
I have witnessed a substantial improvement in the standard of care provided to my relative and other clients attending the centre since Deborah has taken over as the new manager. The Centre is clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and welcoming in their attitude. There has been a change in the atmosphere of the centre which is now more focused on the client health and social care needs as well as the needs of carers.
I have witnessed the caring and respectful attitude that Deborah displays when talking and looking after clients as well as her respect and empathy for carers. Her exceptional skills in nursing compliment her manager role, where she has introduced many interventions to improve the conditions and care of clients in her care e.g. plastic see-through cups for drinks to monitor fluid input, rostering of toilet care to aid clients with urinary problems, walking groups and gentle exercise programs and the use of music therapy to stimulate memory.
This positive and respectful attitude has been endorsed and fostered to all the staff working at the centre. The exceptional care provided by Deborah and her wonderful team to one of the most vulnerable cohorts of aged care patients is a credit to the community health care system.
Congratulations on the appointment of a Manager that cares so much and has improved standards to the highest levels. It shows that appointing an experienced and credentialed nurse as the manager to run a dementia specific day centre was a perfect formula for improving health care outcomes for the clients that attend the centre. Well done Deborah. Keep up the great work you do.
