"My child's hospital admission"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

My child had a booked admission to help assess their epilepsy.

I felt the staff all helped with my child's assessment and kept them safe during their induced epileptic seizures. I felt relieved.

However, I felt EEG staff could have suggested at the time that on discharge my child could have gone home with someone else in our family, to catch up on sleep as they have been severely sleep-deprived and had medications withheld for the assessment which is a trigger for their seizures, then I could have remained by myself at SCGH cafeteria to collect my child's medication from SCGH Pharmacy, which I believe would have been useful. That would have freed up the video EEG room for the next incoming patient waiting for admission that day.

Dear papakz35,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent experience with Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH). It was good to hear that you felt the staff were helpful and that your child was kept safe during their recent admission for an EEG. I will forward your suggestions to the department as we are committed to working with our consumers to improve the services we deliver.

I do hope that your child is doing well and that the assessment has assisted in devising a plan of care to manage their epilepsy.

Once again thank you for providing feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Amanda McKnight

Thanks Amanda, your response is helpful. My son is doing well, and his presurgical video EEG assessment has assisted in devising a proposed plan of care to manage his epilepsy.

Kind regards
