I took my child to get their 18 month needles at the Wheatbelt Primary Health at Northam hospital. We saw the child health nurse Kelly. She was great and quick with my child's needles but what I really appreciate was her convincing me to go back to the doctors for my child's abnormal breathing. After seeing multiple doctors just to be told that ‘there’s nothing you can do until they are older’, I was about ready to give up and just play the waiting game.
I decided to ask Kelly for her opinion, and she was beyond helpful. She listened to me, she did some research while we were there and told me that my child needs to get checked again by the doctor. So later that day I once again took my child to the doctor, who gave us a referral for a paediatrician. We were lucky enough to see the doctor a few days later who confirmed that there were abnormalities with their breathing like I knew there was.
Because of Kelly, I gave it one more try and actually got something done for my child. I cannot thank Kelly enough for the support and advice she gave me. I can definitely say that if it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t have gone to see that wonderful paediatrician and my child wouldn’t be getting better. In my opinion Northam is extremely lucky to have her.
"A big thank you"
