"Visit to Emergency Department"

About: Sutherland Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I brought my child to Sutherland Hospital ED recently due to an earache that woke them up from sleep. We arrived just before midnight. We were seen quickly by a lovely triage nurse. Pain killer was offered but not required since I gave my child Ibuprofen before leaving home.

While in the paediatric waiting room we saw many patients arriving, several of them children and babies. My child was checked on in the waiting room by the nurse. We were seen by the doctor around two hours later which I thought was a pretty good time given that they were obviously busy and my child was quite comfortable after their Nurofen.

We saw Dr. A who was very friendly and professional. My child was offered pain killer again but declined. The department seemed to be running smoothly and I was happy with the care provided to my child.

Dear pelicanrq83,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at Sutherland Hospital Emergency Department.

Having a child in pain can be very stressful, so I am pleased you did not have to wait too long, and that the care your child received was both friendly and professional.

I thank you also for your observation that the department was running smoothly, and I will share this with the staff.

I hope your child is fully recovered.

Best wishes

Valerie Jovanovic

General Manager
