A few years ago when I was working as a Chef Manager, I had a work accident where I slipped and fell and dislocated my coccyx (tailbone). This injury left me bedridden and physically unwell. I developed severe depression and anxiety and struggled with the pain.
Roughly 3 months after that accident I was taken to a party where I was first introduced to my drug of choice - methamphetamines. Pretty much instantly I was hooked. My pain was removed and my depression and anxiety lifted, or so I thought. This went from being a weekend smoking a pipe to then injecting the drug. My life became very unmanageable and it lead me to jail several times, institutions and I tried many times to take my own life.
Then I found Logan House and from there, is where I believe I finally started to get my life back on track. I was given a safe environment that was drug and alcohol-free. I learnt the benefits of keeping a routine, incorporating exercise, having work duties and great food.
I had psychologist and psychiatrist assessments, as well as ongoing doctor and nurse care. I worked through a range of clinical modules that I feel provided me with the knowledge to help with my recovery. I then transitioned into the transition house with a limited program whilst still being under the same abstinence rules as in rehab.
The care provided by the treatment facilitators, Jess at Logan House & Branka at the Transition House, were amazing in my opinion and believe they really shaped my recovery.
I highly recommend that if you want to get clean from your addiction that you give Logan House a phone call.
