"Check-up for my child"

About: Child Health (Primary Health - Katanning)

(as a parent/guardian),

After visiting a Practice Nurse with my child for their purple book appointments, right up until 12 months; for the latest book checkup, our usual Practice Nurse was away so I decided to book in with Child Health in Katanning.

I wish I never did and will never return.

The Child Health Nurse (I can't remember their name) was rude, unprofessional and very unwelcoming in my opinion. I felt very uncomfortable while in their office and my child was unsettled. This Child Health Nurse, I felt, was very abrupt and demanded to know why we had never seen a Child Health Nurse. When I explained that it was because my GP and Practice Nurse has overseen my child's checks, this nurse seemed to have gotten very snappy and told me it wasn't good enough.

My child is small, born small and always has been small but still has a steady growth chart; the nurse told me that I should see someone about that because it's not right. They wouldn't accept that my GP is working with us. My child is shy so didn't really want to interact with this nurse and the nurse informed me that we should really see a behaviour specialist.

I have never walked out of an appointment more upset and angry then I did this day. I will never step foot back into a Child Health Nurse's office ever again. I will continue my child's appointments with my GP and Practice Nurse.

This nurse needs to maybe have more training in my opinion or maybe not work with children.
