"Outstanding level of care"

About: Armadale Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Recently one morning, I was cutting a limestone block with a hand grinder and ended up lacerating my left leg below the knee. It was quite bad so my adult child took me up to Armadale Hospital. I was greeted at the entry of emergency by a nurse kitted out in protective gear. They asked me a number of questions (in regards to the Corona Virus) as well as taking my temperature.

I was then allowed to proceed inside. Luckily the emergency area was basically empty. Triage was a breeze and I then sat down. Only waited about 10-15 minutes to go in. I was looked after by 2 of the most professional advanced care nurses I have had the pleasure to deal with. Over the period of the next hour, their work in treating me from anaesthetic to irrigation and washing of the wound to suturing was nothing short of exceptional. The care and attention did not finish until I walked (hobbled) out of the department.

Over recent years I have had to take my spouse to the hospital a couple of times and my very elderly parent-in-law recently spent a few days in the hospital. Again I have never had reason to complain or question, other than what should be questioned. Yes sometimes you have to wait, but remember, there is always someone in a worse off situation than yourself. I believe people are seen and treated based on how they present and what the issue is that they have.
