I went to a doctor to get a routine pap smear. I also discussed with the doctor recurrent constipation. The doctor then proceeded to give me a rectal examination. I didn't discuss this prior and it was unexpected and painful. At the time, I thought the doctor was being thorough due to the complaint that I had told them, however in hindsight believe the way in which it happened to be inappropriate and unprofessional. It made me feel hurt, embarrassed and surprised due to the unexpected nature of what occurred.
