Recently, my teenage child had a horse-riding accident and sustained a compound lower leg fracture.
From the minute we arrived in the car park at the hospital the staff jumped into action. The doctors and nurses in ED were beyond amazing, unfortunately, I can only remember a few of the names, but I do recall Dr Jolmer, Dr Nick (who did their sedation and pain management) - thank you for keeping my baby comfortable, and nurses Sarah and Nicole. I wish I could remember all their names as I felt they were all amazing and all deserve acknowledgement for a job well well done. Not only did they comfort my child, but they also talked me through absolutely everything they were doing, reassuring me the whole time.
Karen, one of your support staff in ED, took me under her wing, offering drinks, a quiet place to call my spouse and providing emotional support and distraction during a very intense time.
After surgery, my child was admitted on to the ward and there we met the wonderful night nurses, Tammy and Cassie (again I wish I could remember the other nurses on duty). What an absolute treasure they are! When a child goes through a traumatic experience and the first thing they say when they open their eyes following surgery is “everyone here has been so beautiful and caring” it just goes to show how truly great the staff are.
I felt that the support staff coming into the room during the day were always pleasant and cheerful and happy to stop for a quick chat and really lifted the mood. I don’t want to ever experience the inside of a hospital like that again, but I know that if I do have to, the staff at Albany hospital are first class. What an amazing bunch of people we have down here.
***if there is a way of finding out the names of all the staff that were working over the 3 days we were there please, pass on our heartfelt thanks.
