"Birth of my second child"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I was admitted for an elective C Section of my second child. I was very anxious about the C Section as I had had a traumatic experience with the birth of my first child (emergency C-Section with epidural being ineffective at numbing below my chest, my baby went into distress and a general anaesthetic had to be administered for delivery to proceed).

My experience this time was amazing. I can not thank the staff enough for the way they made me feel at ease. Dr Maya was my anaesthetist who went above and beyond to reassure me that everything was going to be ok. She explained everything that was going on which help to temper my fear of a repeat of my last delivery.

From recovery, I was transferred to ward 5. My stay there was brilliant. The midwives were extremely friendly and helpful. I would like to thank Jude, Sandie, Rebecca, Megan (student midwife) Kaye, Melissa and Kara for looking after me and my baby.

I would also like to thank the staff in the Special Care Nursery for looking after my baby when they were unwell.

Dear stonezb36,

I would like to again extend my congratulations to you and your family on the birth of your second child and thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Women and Newborn Health Service, specifically regarding your birthing experience.

I will ensure that your kind feedback is provided to your Anesthetist, Dr Maya. It is always pleasing to hear that our service is able to support and achieve positive outcomes for our patients through what can be a very stressful and anxious time, especially when past experiences have been distressing.

I am also happy to hear that you were pleased with the care that you and your baby received from the staff on Ward 5. I will pass your feedback on to Jude, Sandie, Rebecca, Megan, Kaye, Melissa and Kara.

Thank you once again for your feedback. Congratulations on the arrival of your new baby - I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Regards,

Jodi Graham
