"Above and beyond"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

Today we had to visit Geraldton Emergency Department as my child sprained their ankle but as we live in close to an hour away, before we drove all the way home, we needed confirmation they hadn't broken anything.

Now I’ve lived in the region for 15 years I’ve had to attend the Emergency Department many times for various reasons. In the past, I have even lodged complaints but today was different from the moment we entered the emergency we were treated with 100% respect, care and compassion from the get-go, and I can honestly say it was the best experience I’ve had at Geraldton Emergency. So whatever procedures you have in place and whatever you have changed, please for the love of everyone, don’t change it back after COVID!

I noticed the staff were a lot calmer and everyone was dealt with promptly. To the triage nurse to the doctor to the orderly and to the orderly who sat with my child while I fetched my car, everyone was helpful, polite and caring so thank you.

I was sorry to hear that in the past we were not able to meet your needs however it is great to hear that we have improved and that at this visit you felt respected and compassionately cared for.
