"Admission and discharge"

About: The Prince Charles Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Absolutely shocking experience, in my opinion, with being discharged prematurely knowing I was unable to walk with 9/10 pain. Only given an x-ray but no CT scan done and no discharge plan put in place or home help organised.

I felt both dr and physio ignored my protestations that it was too soon to send me home. I was expected to get home on my own even though I couldn’t walk so my adult child collected me and set up everything downstairs for me to be ok for a couple of days.

Within that time the pain was unbearable. Cut a long story short, I have three prolapsed lumbar discs that are pinching nerves and have been told it will take up to six months for me to get feeling back in my left leg, if at all.

I was told by nurses on ward they would pack my medications that were brought from home; they didn’t, and then I believe the hospital refused to post them out to me (told I had four days to collect them even though I still can’t walk).

Never, ever again!
