My toddler, we shall call him Dangerous Dave, (not their real name) managed to stick their fingers down the bathroom plug hole and slice open their finger when they tried to remove it.
A couple of days later the carefully applied bandaid (mum's a nurse) was pulled off in a wrestling tussle with Dangerous Dave and his dad. This caused a larger wound that wouldn't stop bleeding and after a chat with the nurse on call, we went up to Wonthaggi ED for a check-up/rebandage.
We met the lovely Dr Charlene who managed to keep the now grumpy toddler in a good mood and explained what she was doing to their finger at every step. It was really sweet and showed great skill in dealing with the little ones. I just wanted to pass on my thanks to Dr Charlene and the ED at Wonthaggi. It was a busy evening but my toddler was treated with kindness and respect, which goes a long way, even for the little ones. We were not made to feel like we were wasting anyone's time.
