I was admitted to Box Hill Hospital a few weeks ago, by ambulance with a cardiac issue, via emergency & then transferred to the Short Term Overnight Stay section.
At early hours the next morning, I disconnected the cardiac monitoring equipment & went to the toilet. I requested assistance to find the light switch to reconnect the cardiac monitoring equipment. Having completed the reconnection the Box Hill medical care person said I could leave. I rejected this saying I still wanted to sleep. They said the room was needed. No other patients were visible. I said I would like another hour. They said it will take time to make the room ready. I requested 15 minutes to wake up.
10 minutes later I started to get ready. I went to the door & asked if I or a Box Hill medical care person would remove the cardiac sensor points stuck on my body. They said, you can do it.
I then put my shirtsleeve on which caught the cannula. I went to the door again & asked who would remove the cannula. They said, Oh. We will.
Poor care compared to the initial care received in my opinion.
"Poor overnight care"
