I was admitted twice this year, once going to the theatre for an operation after going through the Emergency Department (ED). Tanika (?) from ED was amazing when I was there, she did a great job helping me through my experience.
The experience of the staff on D ward, I was less than impressed, there was a staff member that I felt did go above and beyond, Jacqui, the EN. She did her best to make the traumatic experience less so. However, the longer I was in the hospital, I felt forgotten, and the simple things like a shower or bed linen being changed were not done (and I noticed other patients were I believe experiencing that too).
I have a couple of medical issues that make life a little harder for me and felt this was forgotten or simply ignored. If it was not for family and friends, I would not have gotten a shower, it seemed. I could say more but I won't. The only saving thing from this experience, other than Jacqui, was the staff in Theatre. The staff in theatre went above and beyond to help me through the traumatic experience. I cannot thank the theatre staff enough.
It is because of Jacqui from D Ward and the staff in theatre, that I would allow myself, family or friends to have a procedure done here, otherwise, I would insist on going to Perth.
