Recently, I presented my worried, anxious self to the Sydney Eye Hospital for admission. Earlier examinations indicated that retinal damage, present in my right eye, would require surgery. 

I am not someone who has experienced any significant prior surgery. Hence, in the period leading to this admission, the expectation of an invasive eye procedure was challenging to accept and stressful to consider.  

Thankfully, my eye damage was not such that it required the invasive vitrectomy procedure and repairs were carried out via laser treatment. 

None the less, the purpose of my note is to sincerely thank every person involved in assisting me... From the moment I attended the Reception station until I was able to leave in the afternoon, I experienced an abundance of inter-personal aid and care.

In particular, I would like to acknowledge the support provided to me by my reception nurse and the procedures that followed under the specialised skills of Retinal Specialist Dr. John,  Anesthetist Dr. Peter and Registrar Ms. Nichole.

I am very grateful to you all... we are indeed fortunate to live in a country where the capability, skills and competence of such teams and services are available to all in need.
